History
Sverre Sundsdal, a software engineer from Norway, has long been passionate about harnessing the power of data to transform healthcare. His professional journey began at Google, where he recognised the immense potential of data. Later, his work at Babylon Health exposed him to the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) in health management. Yet, one critical obstacle stood in the way: data fragmentation. Sverre observed that each doctor holds only a fragment of a patient’s health information, making it difficult to deliver holistic and personalised care. While sophisticated AI tools exist, they remain underutilised due to this fragmentation. Resolving this issue became Sverre’s mission and, in 2023, he founded Livv Health to realise this vision.

As of 2025, Livv Health primarily partners with private healthcare clinics and doesn’t target public hospitals. Clinics provide Livv to their doctors free of charge, enabling them to use the platform with their patients. Individual patients can also use Livv for free and share data with any doctor, even if the clinic has not adopted Livv. However, doctors using the free version have access to fewer features.
Features
The Livv app offers a range of features designed to enhance the healthcare experience for both patients and professionals:
Consultation Preparation: Patients can prepare for appointments by summarising their conditions within the app. The app prompts them with additional questions to ensure they provide comprehensive information and allows them to upload relevant files. This data is then organised into a timeline.
Data Sharing: During consultations, patients can share selected data with their doctor by scanning a QR code generated by Livv. The doctor receives a summary prepared by AI, with options for translation and consultation transcription.
Wearable Integration: Data from wearable devices are automatically pulled and categorised within Livv.
Messaging and Care Plans: Livv enables direct communication between patients and professionals. Professionals can also send personalised notifications and questionnaires, which AI helps patients complete.
Data Organisation: The app groups data by consultation type.
Challenges and areas for improvement
One of the main challenges encountered by Livv has been resistance from some healthcare professionals, who are wary of the shift in power dynamics that occurs when patients have full access to their health data.
The lack of integration with electronic health records (EHRs) remains a limitation. Currently, data must be entered manually by patients and professionals or pulled from wearable devices. However, Livv is exploring opportunities to address this gap.
