On the 5th November, the UK Government introduced new restrictions regarding COVID-19. Information on the new national restrictions, including what they mean for working from home and business closures, why they have been introduced and the financial support available, can be found on the Government website here.

There are three simple actions we all should take to continue protecting ourselves and each other from COVID-19:

Wash hands - keep washing your hands regularly

Cover face - wear a face covering in enclosed spaces

Make space - stay at least 2 metres apart - or 1 metre with a face covering or other precautions.

The main symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are:

A high temperature - this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)

A new, continuous cough - this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste - this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.

Most people with coronavirus have at least 1 of these symptoms. If you display one or more of these symptoms you should apply for a COVID-19 test.

Who can get a free test:

You can only get a free NHS test if at least one of the following applies:

you have a high temperature

you have a new, continuous cough

you've lost your sense of smell or taste or it's changed

you've been asked to by a local council

you're taking part in a government pilot project.

You can also get a test for someone you live with if they have symptoms.

For more information or to get a test, please visit the Government testing website.

How to self-isolate if you're asked to:

If there is a chance you could have coronavirus, you may be asked to stay away from people (self-isolate). You may also be asked to self-isolate if someone in your household or bubble has symptoms of coronavirus.

This means you should:

stay at home

not go to work, school or public places

not use public transport or taxis

ask friends, family members or delivery services to do errands for you

try to avoid visitors to your home - it's ok for friends, family or delivery drivers to drop off food.

You may need to do this for up to 14 days to help reduce the possible spread of infection.
