The Cat@Salut La Meva Salut (LMS) project was initiated in 2009 and opened to the entire Catalan population in 2012. However, access to the platform by patients was initially scarce low for various reasons; the most significant being that access was restricted to the use of required a digital certificate, which few people had at their disposal. Various alternatives were explored , ensuring compliance with to allow easier access while suitable meeting legal and security requirements, to allow citizens to access it more easily and simply. .
The most suitable proposal was a robust password and user name, coupled with a face-to-face procedure that had to be carried out identity verification procedure at the primary care centre. This proposal was worked on from the perspective of its functional and technical feasibility, ensuring compliance with legal regulations and the necessary security in handling this type of data. Once these challenges were resolved, a pilot test was carried out to implement the username and password in 33 of the 100 basic health areas (ABS).
In June 2014, the necessary tools to develop the project began to be createdth. In July 2014, the provider entities were informed, and training and informational documents were designed, as well as a method for validating access to the Central Register of Insured Persons (RCA). In September 2014, territorial training began , it was disseminated through the media, and informational materials were distributed. Finally, on October 1, 2014, the pilot test was launched progressively in the selected ABS and with extended throughout the first months of 2015 . (Aanestad et al., 2017).

Patients can also access their current Medication Plan for direct use at pharmacies, request appointments for primary care, and utilise various remote services such as eConsulta, which facilitates health consultations, procedures, and document exchanges with healthcare professionals. Additionally, clinical reports provide patients with the ability to view and download medical certificates for leave and discharge from work (Generalitat de Catalunya, n.d.).

The Catalan Health Service website specifies that services vary based on the patient's healthcare provider (hospitals, primary care centers, etc.), which are in turn contingent on their place of residence. The functionalities mentioned above are continually expanding as the project development is ongoing, so not all patients will have access to the same data about their health. The data integration process is gradual and relies on the centers within the Comprehensive Health System for Public Use of Catalonia (SISCAT) continuing to contribute information . (Generalitat de Catalunya, n.d.).
