History
The Cat@Salut La Meva Salut (LMS) project was initiated in 2009 and opened to the entire Catalan population in 2012. However, access to the platform by patients was initially scarce for various reasons; the most significant being that access was restricted to the use of a digital certificate, which few people had at their disposal. Various alternatives were explored, ensuring compliance with legal and security requirements, to allow citizens to access it more easily and simply. The most suitable proposal was a robust password accessible from various devices (computer, tablet, and mobile). This proposal was worked on from the perspective of its functional and technical feasibility, ensuring compliance with legal regulations and the necessary security in handling this type of data. Once these challenges were resolved, a pilot test was carried out to implement the username and password in 33 basic health areas (ABS).
In June 2014, the necessary tools to develop the project began to be created. In July 2014, the provider entities were informed, and training and informational documents were designed, as well as a method for validating access to the Central Register of Insured Persons (RCA).
In September 2014, territorial training began, it was disseminated through the media, and informational materials were distributed.
Finally, on October 1, 2014, the pilot test was launched progressively in the selected ABS and extended throughout the first months of 2015.

At the time of writing, La Meva Salut is a personal digital health space that allows the citizens of Catalonia to relate in a non-face-to-face manner with the Catalan Health System. It makes it easier for its users to consult clinical reports, diagnoses, and results of clinical analyses and tests that are part of their clinical history. Patients can also access the current Medication Plan to go directly to the pharmacy, request a primary care visit, and access various non-face-to-face care services such as eConsulta, which allows healthcare professionals to make health consultations, carry out procedures, and send documents. In clinical reports, patients can consult and download the medical notices of leave and discharge from work.
Features
In La Meva Salut, the patient can access information stored in their shared medical history, encompassing the care received in the health centers of Catalonia's health system. The key services and information available to the patient in La Meva Salut include:
Details of the patient's primary care team, comprising the assigned doctor and nurse.
Diagnostics and clinical reports encompassing emergency care, admissions, ambulatory care, test results, and medical notices for leaves of absence and return to work.
Record of administered vaccines and immunizations.
The patient's current medication plan.
A personal agenda detailing scheduled tests and visits in primary health care and hospitals (as this service is integrated).
Information regarding the waiting list in case the patient is awaiting surgery.
Access to the advance will document if the patient has registered it.
The option to express the intent to become an organ and tissue donor, along with the ability to print a personalized donor card.
Utilizing eConsulta to communicate with healthcare professionals for non-urgent queries that do not require face-to-face interaction.
Appointment service for requesting visits.
The option to request a change of doctor.
The ability to schedule appointments for international vaccinations.
The capability to securely download clinical information in a coded format, utilizing the Health data to share.
Certain services vary based on the patient's eligible healthcare provider (hospitals, primary care centers, etc.) contingent on their place of residence. These functionalities are continually expanding in accordance with the availability of suppliers.
Weaknesses
Limited Data Input: Patients are unable to add personal medical data directly into the system.
Exclusively Public Healthcare Data: La Meva Salut exclusively relies on data provided by Public Healthcare providers.
Note on the website: “When exploring individual tabs, please keep in mind the ongoing development of this project. The data integration process is gradual, as centers within the Comprehensive Health System for Public Use of Catalonia (SISCAT) continue to contribute information. Thus, some historical clinical data may not be immediately accessible. For further inquiries about La Meva Salut, reach out to 061 Salut Respon.”
