The aim of Care Information Exchange (CIE) is to create an integrated care record for patients and health/care professionals involved in their care across the North West London region. As well as providing GPs with a single place to access real-time updates to hospital outpatient appointments, discharge summary letters, clinic outcome letters, admission, transfer and discharge information, pathology results and radiology reports, it will soon also include radiology images.
As part of the CIE, several organizations are already securely sharing patient information, including Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, West Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust, West London Mental Health Trust, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust, Central North West London NHS Foundation Trust and 5 EMIS GP Practices in the Hillingdon and Brent area.
There are over a million patient records created within the CIE and over 150,000 registered patients in NWL who have access to their record. The users are able to view pathology and radiology results, clinical letters, and discharge summaries. appointments and inpatient activity (where available) for any patient record created within the CIE.
