During my last year at university, I decided my thesis was going to be about ‘purpose-oriented’ companies. After five years of studying the theory of business and economics, my aim was to comprehend how a company could prioritize making the world a better place over solely pursuing profits.
To understand this, I conducted interviews with the founders of 17 B-corp-certified companies. Among these, there was Patients Know Best, a Personal Health Record (PHR) software company whose mission is to revolutionise healthcare by empowering patients, one record at a time.
Fascinated by its vision, I started working at Patients Know Best right after graduation, and some years later, I am excited to present a research project co-authored with Mohammad Al-Ubaydli, the company’s founder and CEO, titled 'Personal Health Records for Governments.'
This website is a dynamic hub of our ongoing exploration into the world of PHRs and it is not a static entity but rather a perpetual work-in-progress project. Here, where we shed light on the successes, and challenges faced by different nations.
Our comprehensive research draws insights from various sources, including academic literature, newspaper articles, and information from government and corporate websites. Additionally, we've had the privilege of conducting interviews with individuals worldwide who were kind enough to show us their Personal Health Records - that is where the screenshots you’ll see in the book come from. Furthermore, we've engaged in conversations with key figures involved in developing and implementing Personal Health Records across different countries and organizational levels.
Acknowledging the complexity of our subject matter, we recognize the possibility of errors on this site. As emphasized earlier, this website is an incomplete resource. Our commitment is to keep up with the rapidly evolving technologies discussed in the book, striving to provide a representation that closely mirrors reality.
To achieve this goal, we rely on accurate and up-to-date information. However, obtaining such information can be challenging. Therefore, we encourage your help: if you encounter any inaccuracies, kindly contact us with corrections. Your input is invaluable as we work towards creating a reliable and informative resource on the intricate landscape of Personal Health Records.
