Curations
Why
Patients benefit from the guidance of experts on how to manage their health.
What
A curation is a team set up by an expert that any patient can use.
The patient always gets content and control
The patient can use a curation independently without waiting for an invitation. The patient can either register for a new account linked to the curation, or link their existing account to the curation.
The curation has a set of care plan templates and library links that the expert created. The patient can use the templates and links the patient finds most useful.
The patient can choose to take part in research
PKB will ask a patient if they want to be contacted for research at the point of registering or linking their account to the curation.
The patient does not have to agree to this to benefit from the curation. If the patient does agree, the patient can change their mind at any stage in the future on the sharing page.
PKB will contact people who agreed to hear about research trials as the trials become available to PKB in the future.
PKB will not have access to the data in the records of these patients, and neither will organisers of the research trials.
The patient can explicitly consent to open their records for any trial they hear about and approve of.
The expert is named for credit and responsibility
Each care plan template credits by name the expert who created it.
The accuracy of the content is the responsibility of the expert.
How
Ask PKB to set you up with a Curation Team
You can contact the PKB team using the Contact Us form.
If you work at an organisation that is a customer of PKB, you can contact your PKB Project Manager to ask for advice or information about curations.
Provide PKB with your content
We want to make it as easy as possible for you to provide content. To begin with, we need the content in an editable format e.g. a Microsoft Word document.
To go back and forth with you on the content we will create a Google document that we can all edit together. Once you finalise the content we can start on its appearance.
PKB staff will provide you with a site on sandbox that shows your library links and care plan templates. You can send feedback by email or on a screen sharing video call. Once you finalise the appearance we will publish the curation on our production server.
Decide how involved you want to be
Editing
If you enjoy editing HTML, you are welcome to have editing rights to the templates and library pages.
You do not need to do this, PKB is happy to do all the technical work so you can focus your expertise on the content.
Research
If you would like to contact patients about research, we can contact the ones who signed up for your curation and consented to be contacted for research. The more people who hear about your curation the more will consent to hear about your research.
You do not need to run research trials.
Promotion
If you enjoy using social media, PKB can provide you with materials to spread awareness about your curation.
Review your content
Each care plan template must have a date of creation and a date of review. This helps users to decide how current and accurate content is.
PKB will agree with you a date to review your templates and library links.
