Patient records created in another organisation
If you invite a patient who already has a PKB record that was created by another organisation, they will be automatically added to your team. These patients do not have to accept the invitation to your team before you can see their record, as clinical institutions providing direct care to patient have implicit consent to add patients to their team with the team's default privacy label.
What happens when I invite a patient who has already been created by another organisation?
If the patient you are inviting has already got a PKB record that was created by another organisation, they will be automatically added to your team. This will occur only when the patient was created by the other organisation with a national identifier (e.g. NHS number) or email address and you use one of these identifiers to invite them.
For example, if a patient already has a PKB record in Organisation A with an NHS number and no email address and is then invited by Organisation B with the same NHS number, the patient's record will be automatically added to Organisation B.
If Organisation B invite the patient with no NHS number, there is no way to match to the patient's record in Organisation A and a second record will be created. If the patient has an email address in their record, they will be sent an email notification informing them that your team now has access to their record.
